Nic's findings

What impact has technology had on your life?

My grandad's name is Nigel Pitts. He is 69 years old. He was born in Dunedin
When my grandad was a child he didn't have any electrical appliances to build something out of wood. e.g. electric drill, chainsaw. And when his mother would bake something she would use an open coal stove. He didn't get a phone until he was 10 or 11. This was also when he got his first car. He and his family would go for rides at say 9:30 and go for a ticky tour just for the novelty of going for a ride when he first got it.

My grandad was very lucky he has lived through a time period and so he has seen a great change of technology over the years. When he was a young adult he was a surveyer and still now he is a surveyer so he has seen a big change in what technology he could use to measure length much easier now to read the distance now compared to back when he was a young adult. It is mucheasier now thanit was back then.

My opinion is that grandad is very lucky and i would love to be him. Some of the many reasons that i would like to be him as i said before he has been alive over a great time period. Because imagine if when you were a kid there wasn't very much technology and so you grew up technology became better and there was more of it and by now he is surrounded by all of this great technology like new phones GPS's and more. He can think back to when he was a kid and think about how it has changed. It must be amazing. He told me about there are tings mow that can pinpoint you on the Earth's surface. He told me that they can mark you and and be only up to 2 centermetres away and that is where you are standing. They can also pinpoint your height up to 3 inches off at the same time.
